Secrets to success - GRIT (Passion and Perseverance for long-term)
If you were to mention top secrets that brings success they would be perseverance and passion.
Achievement or success is not reserved for just the talented. Anyone who moves towards a goal through perseverance and passion can be successful.
Passion means having direction
It’s the ability to adhere to a goal over the long term and maintain your interest level, as opposed to changing your goal mercurially
“Any time I have seen someone accomplishing something magnificent, they have been a monomaniac with a mission. A single-minded individual with a passion.”
— Peter F. Drucker
how do you know if you are passionate about something?
Anything that seems effortless or a litmus test would be whenever you lose track of time when you do a certain task that could be something that you are passionate about. Doing a task that you might not be passionate about can make it more effortful and you might not do it for a longer time as you feel tired. Dedicated work towards something you are passionate about supersedes something you do without passion.
Identifying something that you are really passionate about and you get paid for that you never ever have to work another day in your life. Which is not that easy to find.
Perseverance means having resilience
It’s the ability to overcome setbacks, work hard, and finish things rather than give up.
Perseverance in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Showing up every day for doing a certain task and doing it consistently make you improve a percent every day. As the days progress you get better and better at the task you want to achieve
Lets look at an example, Anyone who is speaking infront of a big crowd might feel very uncomfortable at the first time but as you do it consistently over a period of time you get comfortable with it.
Even though we say hard work is more important than talent, our general perception is the opposite deep down. Whenever we see a successful person we say “how talented is he” but we forget to acknowledge the work that the person put in to become successful.
Consistency in the effort you put towards a goal will help you reach your goal.
Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term
Whenever you have a goal that you are passionate about and you put in consistent effort towards that goal sky is the limit for you. Passion and perseverance will get you what you want if used in the right way. Grit supersedes talent in a big way always believe in yourself and put in the work to reach your goals.
it is not talent or gifting that gets us the places we want to be,but our own will power and desire to succeed. In fact, those who have “natural” skills end up giving up or quitting far faster than someone who has a deep passion for what they are doing. In other words, someone who has grit.
